I went to Bottom Dollar yesterday afternoon to buy produce and a few other things. It was a good shopping trip, even with the kids in tow. While I was at Giant Eagle last night, I checked their prices for the items I purchased at Bottom Dollar in order to get an idea of how much I saved. I feel that it is worth a trip to Bottom Dollar, especially for produce. Keep in mind that the majority of what I bought was produce and there are rarely coupons for produce.
I paid $22.39 for $33.36 worth of produce, groceries & household supplies for a savings of nearly 33%!
Yeast (3pk) 99¢ (GE $1.59)
24 pk Water-8oz $2.97 (GE $2.25/12pk. It would have cost $4.50!)
Gala Apples 2.5lb $3.28 (GE $3.98)
Romaine Lettuce $1.48 (GE $2.99)
4 Roma Tomatoes 76¢ or 98¢/lb (GE 4 pk $3.99. They did not have loose Roma Tomatoes.)
1 Cucumber 58¢ (GE $1.29)
Bananas 75¢ or 29¢/lb (GE $1.26 or 49¢/lb)
Pineapple $1.98 (GE $4.99. GE's pineapples were larger but not worth $3 more!)
Large Eggs 88¢ (GE $1.49)
1% Milk $3.66 (Same price at GE)
Butter 1lb. $1.69 (GE Brand $3.49)
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser $1.97 (GE $2.50)
Baby Carrots $1.29 (Same price at GE)
Before Bottom Dollar came into my area, I went to Aldi for produce. Honestly, it was hit or miss when it came to quality. After nearly 1 year of shopping at Bottom Dollar for produce, I can honestly say the quality is great! Their produce area is kept clean, neat & well stocked!
If there's a Bottom Dollar near you, check it out!
Live Frugal. Live Happy.
