Challenge: 30 Days to an Organized Home--Day 15

Challenge: 30 Days to an Organized Home--Day 15

Good Morning!  Wow!  Day 15 already.  Time does fly when you're having fun!

Assignment #15

Under the Beds

This assignment was originally scheduled a few weeks ago.  Due to a shoulder/back/arm injury, I had to postpone it.  Well, I'm feeling so much better now!  Time to tackle that under the bed storage.

Under the bed is a great place to store things, but there has to be order to it.  Otherwise you won't know what's under there and likely forget about it all together.  Years ago I purchased several storage bins, like these.  They work great for storing off season clothes, extra bedding(especially if you do not have a linen closet) and I even used one under my daughter's crib when she was a baby to store extra diapers & wipes.

I highly recommend these containers.  But please don't run out to buy them now.  Remember we're all about frugal living!  Wait until they go on sale.  That might be very soon since it's back to school time.  Storage containers are always a big must for college students.

There are tons of other storage options made to go under the bed.  Shoe storage, collapsible storage, wire bins...the list goes on & on.  If you decide to add storage containers under your bed think about what would suit your needs.  Shop around for the best price.  Consider buying one or two at a time so it won't hurt your budget as much as buying 6 at once.

For the assignment, pull out everything that is stored under one bed.  If possible, vacuum under the bed.  Go through all the items and containers.  Make 3 piles:  things to keep, things that belong elsewhere and things to donate or trash.  I should end up with a pretty large donate pile!

After you have everything sorted out, start refilling your containers or putting everything back in an orderly fashion.  If you are using storage bins, consider labeling each one so you can quickly identify what's in them.  A piece of masking tape and a Sharpie should get the job done just fine.  Repeat this process for each bed in your home.

Frugal Tip: If you have a few larger cardboard boxes tucked away, consider cutting them down to size to fit under the bed.  You can even punch holes and make handles using rope or thick ribbon.

Check back tonight at 9pm for my results & linky!

Live Frugal.  Live Happy.
