Challenge: 30 Days to an Organized Home--Day 3

Good morning!  I hope everyone had a fun & safe day celebrating America's birthday!  We had a wonderful time with family & friends.  The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays.  I love our country & I'm very thankful for our freedom.  Plus, nothing beats a BBQ & fireworks!

Assignment #3

Computer Desk/Area

This assignment can get pretty involved depending on how in dept you choose to go.  I'll give you hint now, we will have an assignment later dealing with paperwork, so if you want to skip that part for now, that's fine & dandy!

My focus will be on be on organizing my bills, finding a clever way to clean up the computer & printer wires and basically cleaning up the area.  

Start by removing everything your can from your desk.  If possible, move the computer in order to wipe under it.  Begin making your 3 piles:  things to keep, things that belong elsewhere and things to donate or trash.

After everything is removed, give the desk a good wipe down.  If your desk arrangement didn't work well for you before, now is a perfect time to reconfigure your desk space.  If your space works for you, it'll help you be more productive in the tasks you usually do there.

When you are satisfied with your desk setup, start putting everything back in it's proper place.  You may decide to use a few stacking trays for mail & other papers.  Magazine files come in handy as well as pencils cups.

Frugal Tip:  Did you know you can make your own magazine file for free using items in your home?  Check out this post from Apartment Therapy to find out how!  Note:  If you don't have all the supplies she recommends on hand, try to think of substitutes.  For instance, I do not have Mod Podge so I'm going to try this using regular tape.  Be creative and look around your home for inspiration!
