Challenge: 30 Days to an Organized Home--Day 1

Challenge: 30 Days to an Organized Home--Day 1

Welcome to Live Frugal. Live Happy.'s very first 30 day challenge!  I'm very excited for this to begin, so let's get right to it!

Assignment #1

The Junk Drawer

We all have one!  And boy does mine collect a ton of junk!  For today's assignment grab your junk drawer(it can be ANY junky drawer in your home) and remove ALL contents.  Wipe down the inside of the drawer so it's nice & clean.  Next sort through the items.  I bet you'll find a few things(in my case more than a few) that don't even belong there.  Start making piles, such as: things to stay, things that belong elsewhere and things to trash or donate.
Once you completed the sorting, look at what is going back into the drawer.   Sort the staying pile into like things, such as all pens/pencil together and so on.  Now that you have a clear idea of what needs to go back into the drawer, you can being organizing the drawer so that it works for you.  If you have small containers that will work for the drawer, try to use them.

Frugal Tip:  You can cut the bottoms off of cereal or cracker boxes!  These work great in shallow drawers.  If you want to dress them up, cover them in scrap booking paper or even left over gift wrap.  Depending on width & length, they can hold pencil, pens, scissors, etc.

Now that you have all junk drawer all organized, you'll be able to find things much easier.  Don't forget about your other 2 piles.  Be sure to put things away where they belong.  Start a donate box if you plan to do so.  Trash the trash items.

Sit back and admire how nice your junk drawer looks.  I bet it's so not junky anymore!

Check back at 9pm for my update, pictures & linky!
