Challenge: 30 Days to an Organized Home--Day 20 Results

Challenge: 30 Days to an Organized Home--Day 20 Results

Today's assignment went well.  I'm very happy with the overall results even though the Terrible Towels are still in my buffet.  My almost 4 year old daughter loves running to the buffet and grabbing the towels when the Steelers are playing.  Since preseason is just around the corner, I figured I'd leave them there for now and pack them away later.

Here's the before picture of my buffet:

It was a mess!  And I honestly have no clue how most of this stuff ended up here.  Then I asked the hubster about it.  It seems he likes to put stuff here when he's not sure where else it goes.  Ugh men!

I took everything out and cleaned the cabinet with multi surface Pledge.  I sorted through everything and put away things that belonged elsewhere.  When I started putting my serving dishes back, I tried to stack them as orderly as possible.  It's still not ideal.  I think I might need a large cabinet shelf, like the one I linked earlier today.

Next I tackled the drawer of the buffet.  It was really bad as well.

Place mats, artwork, birthday cards, kids' drawings, warranties & directions!  You name it and it was in this drawer.  I took everything out and got rid of a lot of it.  I set aside anything I didn't want back in there.  It looks much better now.  All I can say is...we really need a larger home!

Hey at least I found my phone books!

I moved on to the hutch.  I only had to do the bottom cabinet.  The drawer of this cabinet is reserved for kids arts & crafts supplies, which will be an assignment soon!

Yes this is our liquor cabinet!  I also found 2 bags of old baby bottles.  Don't ask because I have no idea!  And no we never fed our children rum in a bottle!

Anyways, I threw away all these old bottles and emptied the basket of old silverware.  Wow!  I really never open this cabinet!  I cleaned it with Pledge and put the liquor and basket back.

After I took the "after" picture, I decided to store our new Soda Stream(review coming soon!) supplies in the basket.

I'm very happy with the results since obviously these two storage areas get completely ignored!

Special Note: There will not be an assignment tomorrow since I will not be home most of the day!  Enjoy your weekend and check back Monday at 10 am for the next assignment!

Please leave a me comment and let me know this challenge is going for you!  I would really love to hear from you!
