Shopping Results-CVS

Shopping Results-CVS

I had to run to CVS today to take advantage of the great deal on Dawn dish soap.  Actually, the hubster and I hit several CVS's to get all of these.  As I probably mentioned before, I'm against clearing shelves.  There are a few CVS stores nearby and it was REALLY worth it to drive a few miles to pick these up.  I do plan on giving Mom a bunch of the Hand Renewal soaps, since she loves them and I love her :)

I spent $12.90 for $64.34 worth of Dawn Dish Soap for a savings of 80%!!

Between the hubster & myself, we did 5 transactions to buy all of these due to the restriction on the coupon itself.  We can only use 4 "like" coupons per transaction, per customer.  So keeping all that in mind, we ended up with 34 bottles of Dawn!

Here's how  the deal went:

(34) Dawn Dish Soap 96¢ each (Reg. $1.87)
-(14) 75¢/1 Hand Renewal
-(20) 50¢/1 Dawn(excluding Hand Renewal)
Final Price:  $12.90 for all or 38¢ each!

On top of the great price, I also received a $10 EBCs for spending $30 on P & G Products!
So if we calculate in the EBC's savings as well, it's like I got all these for $2.90 or  9¢ each!  Usually I don't count the EBC's now because I'll be using them to purchase other items and the savings will be reflected in that receipt.  But most people prefer to subtract their EBC's immediately to see their true savings.  However you look at it, it's still a great deal!

If you plan to buy Dawn at CVS, get out there and buy them today.  The 75¢/1 & 50¢/1 coupons both expire today!  Happy shopping!

Shopping Results--Giant Eagle

Shopping Results--Giant Eagle

Today's shopping trip went really well.  I was able to stock up on a few of the hubster's favorites like pizza rolls and soft pretzels!  I also stocked up on RedPack tomatoes & sauce, napkins & toilet paper!  I grabbed Kellogg's cereal for $1 per box.  The kids have been begging me for "good cereal"...we have Cheerios & Raisin Bran! Yep, I threw in the towel on this one after hearing them complain for 3 weeks.  Little do they know, they will still be eating Cheerios & Raisin Bran most days! It was a great day of shopping!

Shopping Results--Gaint Eagle

Today's shopping trip went great!  I got nearly everything I was after.  Unfortunately, the store I go to didn't have Purex included in the BOGO Free sale event.  I'm hearing that many other stores nearby do have it.  I will be going after that before the sale is over.  I stocked up on Betty Crocker mashed potatoes.  Probably enough to last 8-12 months!  I really cannot get that hang of making homemade mashed potatoes.  I've tried and tried and fail every time.  I know, it sounds so easy and since I cook a ton it shouldn't be an issue, but it is.  So I do buy boxed potatoes for when we really want them.  I also got ice cream for my daughter's 4th birthday party next week.  I do love buying party snacks cheap or for free!

I took advantage of quite a few BOGO Free sales today.  And even though I didn't have coupons for all of them, I'm still very happy with my results.  After all, I saved 50% on these items with very little effort!

I spent $54.85 for $125.23 worth of groceries for a savings of over 56%!

Shopping Results--Giant Eagle Plus My Monthly Savings Report

Sometimes, even if you do coupon, there are going to be things you just need.  And even though that list of needs goes down each month as you build a stockpile of your staple items, there will still be times when you need things that are not on sale.  Be assured that it's OK.  I had a shopping trip like that today.  We needed juice boxes for my son's lunches.  We only send him juice 2 times per week, but since school started, he hasn't had any.  I've been waiting and waiting for a good sale to come around, but it didn't.  So I broke down and bought them.  I had a good coupon so it wasn't too bad.

We also needed 2 pounds of banana peppers to that we could turn this...

Into this...

Salsa!!!

Every year we get a huge crop of Roma tomatoes.  Trust me, there were more than what's in that picture!  About 15 pounds worth!  We make salsa yearly and love it!  While we were busy chopping and prepping everything today, I suggested that next year we should grow the banana peppers too since they cost nearly $8!

I made a quick trip to Bottom Dollar for the rest of the salsa ingredients...onions, jalapeno pepper, lemon juice, fresh garlic and cilantro.  These products were very cheap there.  In fact, I got all that plus a bunch of bananas & a huge package of chicken legs for under $10!

The chicken legs are on sale until Wednesday so grab them while you can!  My package has 14 legs in it for only $2.56(67¢/lb)!  For now, I packed them up using the Foodsaver (2 packs of 7) and threw them in the freezer.  I'm see chicken legs for dinner in the near future!

Now on to my Giant Eagle trip...

I spent $47.53 for $77.60 worth of groceries for a savings of nearly 39%!**

Like I said, the savings wasn't great, but at least I saved on the things we needed.  Every penny counts!

My Monthly Savings Report

August ended so it's time for me to post my numbers.  I have to tell you, this was the best month I had to date.  I came in way under budget and my savings percentage was higher then any other month!

August Monthly Budget   $350.00

Total Shelf Cost                 $635.79
Total Coupon Savings       $208.13
Total Discounts                 $191.10
Total Savings                    $399.23
Amount Paid                     $236.56
Savings Rate                      62.79%

I came in $113.44 UNDER budget!  Beating July by just $1.33!  However my Savings Rate in July was 50.11% and August put that to shame!  I'm extremely happy with my August results!  It seems like it gets better and better every month.  In fact, looking back to January, my budget was $650.00!  That's when I was still building a stockpile of the things we need & use.  As you can see, stockpiling your most used items when they are at rock bottom prices really pays off in the long run!
